Well, he is finally here! On Sunday July 12th 1:30pm, I was having some minor contractions, that were pretty consistent. We decided to go in and get checked out by the nurses. Well, when we got there they hooked me up to the monitors and called my doctor, (who was at a wedding 4 hours away and had to catch a ferry to leave and come back up). I was monitored for a few hours and it showed that they were consistently coming every 6-8 min. So, when the Dr. got there he decided he was going to break my water and help things move along. Well about an hour or two after that, the contractions came at about every 3 min and were ALOT more painful. I was dialted to a 5 and effaced out 90% at this point. The doc said that he thought we were going to have a little bit longer, and he put me on pitocin and said you can have your epi any time you want it now. So, after experiencing several of those "lovely" sensations, they got the epi lady there!! After that it went smooth sailing, for a bit anyways. At this point is was about 8 or so at night and I decided I was going to take a nap :) It was lovely!!! I would reccomend ANYONE to take the epi.... it made labor alot more pleasent! For the next few hours they came in and checked on things, I had to get helped in to an "all fours" position on the bed, because he was facing sunny side up for a bit, but we took care of it. Well, at about 1:30am July 13th, the nurse said alright, you are at a ten now, but the baby is still at a -1 station. Which, if you dont know what that means, well it means that the baby was not wanting to come down into the birth canal pretty much. They were pretty sure it was just because he was a big baby. So, the nurse says lets try some active pushing to get this boy down. So, what I thought would have been a little bit, turned into 3.5 HOURS of ACTIVE PUSHING. Every 2-3 min pushing HARD for 30sec straight!!! It was TIRING!!! Well, then at about 4 something, the Dr came in and said ok, well he doesnt seem like he is moiving down, even after all the pushing; we are going to have to try out the vaccum and if that dont work then we are going to have to do a c-section. Well, thats all the encouragement I needed... with ALL of my might, when that vaccum was hooked up and in place.... I pushed BIG TIME, and with a whole lot of prying out by our WONDERFUL Dr. out came Aiden!!! YaY!!! He wasnt breathing at first but after a minute or so of being messed with he let out a big whail!!! Heather was AMAZING through this WHOLE thing! I could have never done it without her. She was such great support and just there for me, and I wouldn't have had it any other way! It was a great experience and besides the few contractions I endured in the beginning and the couple I had towards the end when my epi almost ran out... it was a very pleasent experience and ALL WORTH IT!!!!
